Although the stars in the song refer to one of Josef's dreams, we chose to show you stars of a different kind. On Shabbat eve we light candles. Ashkenazi Jews, mainly from Germany, used to light a hanging lamp called JudenStern (the Jewish star), although their shape resembles more the shape of the sun. The wicks were placed in each beam and the oil was in the middle. The little bowl at the bottom collected the residue and drippings. These lamps were made from brass which, with its golden color, glows in the candle light
